Visit Paestum

Paestum is one of italy’s most majestic sights.

The ruins stand on the site of the ancient city of Poseidonia, founded by greek colonist in the 7th century bc. When the romans took over the colony in 273 b.C. and called it Paestum, they enlarged the settlement, adding an amphitheater and a forum.

The Temple of Poseidon is a magnificent doric edifice, with 36 fluted columns and an extraordinarily well-preserved entablature. Not even grece itself possesses such a fine monument of hellenic architecture.

Our suggest to visit Paestum by car: if you go from Sorrento to Paestum by car stop in one of some mozzarella factory by the way (like Vannullo or Riva Bianca) to taste an amazing buffalo mozzarella.
